Master Final Project
5. Assessment system
Type of tests
The MFP, which will be carried out individually, may be directed by one or co-directed by a maximum of three teachers of the master.
It will be presented and defended before a board of examiners.
The task of directing the MFP will involve continuous monitoring (with regular meetings) of the work done for the preparation, written presentation and oral defines before the MFP board. The director(s) will provide the student with general guidelines on the nature and requirements of the type of work proposed to be done. It is the responsibility of the director or directors to validate and supervise the process of carrying out the work. The director may submit, if they so wishes, a report on the work addressed to the board of examiners.
Format
The MFP will have a length of 20 to 40 pages (Calibri font, size 11, 1.2 to 1.5 line spacing, normal margins), plus annexes. It shall be presented justified on both margins in A4. Bibliographic references should be cited according to the latest version of APA.
The final document will be presented in PDF format.
The written MFP will be sent to the board at the time of its deposit. This will be sent by e-mail and as a pdf document. The members of the board may request a printed copy to the student through the same channel if they so wish.
The MFP will be presented on the day and time indicated by the secretary's office of the Faculty before the assigned board. This presentation will take place in a half-hour session, during which the student will have 15 minutes to defend their work, leaving the other 15 minutes at the disposal of the board to ask questions or make the observations it deems appropriate. The director(s) may be present during the defence and may speak once the student finishes their intervention and before the questions and observations of the board.
Both the writing and the presentation and defence of the MFP will be done in Spanish.
In general, the papers will have the following structure:
-
Title
-
Summary / Abstract
-
Index
-
List of tables, with titles and pages
-
List of images, with titles and pages
-
List of abbreviations (if used)
-

-

Modalities
There are different modalities of MFP, and the student may choose any of them within the period that will be indicated in due time:
1. MFP Modality A
Within this modality, there are different possibilities with a specific scope each one of them.
Scope 1: Theoretical reflection (e.g.: state of the art on a topic, study of a set of documents and materials, etc.)
Scope 2: Design and implementation oriented to the context of the practice centre of a methodology not observed during the practicum at the centre.
Scope 3: Extensive analysis of an actual case or intervention that has taken place during the internship or a type of intervention that is taking place in the internship centre.
Scope 4: Educational Innovation Project. This scope deals with an educational innovation that can be applied. It will consist of a novel proposal. Design of a teaching innovation project (including: situation or process of teaching-learning to be improved; objective(s) of the project; theoretical argumentation, based on some research articles that support the proposal, and practice, based on a similar experience being carried out in a Spanish centre; design and development of the project; and criteria and instruments for evaluating the level of achievement of the objectives) or of an intervention oriented to the context of the internship centre.
Scope 5: This scope will consist of an analysis and reflection on two activities carried out in the master's degree (annual program of a subject, didactic unit, innovation or research project, implementation of activities, experience of the Practicum, etc.), although it is also possible to include an activity generated for the MFP. It is essential that the activities have a relationship or link between them in order to be selected within this modality of work. It should be noted that, in this option, if any activity carried out in the Master is selected, it should be included in the annexes, and the report should clearly indicate the part carried out in the MFP. Concretely, the index is stated as:
-
Introduction.
-
The teaching profession from the theoretical framework and the experience in the educational centre: Working conditions, professional challenges, organizational forms, etc.
-
School context (if the activity/s were carried out at the school)
-
Justification of the selection of activities/projects carried out in the master's program
-
Description of activities
-
Critical reflection on the existing or possible relationships between these projects
-
Conclusions and proposals for the future.
-
Annex 1: Activity 1
-
Annex 2: Activity 2
2. MFP Modality B
Research initiation work related to lines of innovation or research previously proposed by the teachers. The research can be of any type (documentary, educational, case study, etc.).
These lines will be proposed at the beginning of each academic year (in the first few months of each academic year) and will be
approved by the Quality Assurance Committee. In November, the proposals of research lines approved for that academic year by the Quality Assurance Committee will be announced.
Students who opt for this modality must complete the application form included in ANNEX II and submit it to at the secretary's office of the centre (Faculty of Education) on the dates indicated in the calendar of the procedure. In addition, they will send it to the coordinator of the Specialty of Industrial and Construction Processes of PT by e-mail.
The tutors, within their proposed lines, will give the pertinent and detailed specifications on the structure and realization of these works
In these research projects of modality B, the following aspects will be particularly valued:
-
Experience design and research
-
Rigor and quality of presentation in data analysis
-
Depth of interpretation of results
Assessment criteria
In addition to the specific criteria, specific to each modality, in general, the evaluation will follow these criteria
-
Quality of the structure and formal presentation of the work, including from the logical structuring of the whole in sections, clarity of the verbal exposition, quality of the graphs and tables, presentation of the document and the correct use of the system of citations and references.
-
Correct and meaningful use of fundamental educational concepts relevant to the work.
-
Quality of the presentation and defence of the project before the board. This section will particularly value the clarity with which the whole work, in its fundamental aspects, is presented orally to the board and with the support of appropriate resources, highlighting the key elements of the design, its theoretical assumptions and hypotheses and the fundamental conclusions that can be inferred from the data.
-
Observation of applicable regulations, if applicable.
The board will make an overall evaluation of the work, its presentation and defence, reaching a single grade through consensus by means of the procedure it deems appropriate. It will be graded from 0 to 10, and may be awarded honours in accordance with the regulations of the University of Zaragoza. The report will be valued up to 7 points and the defence of the work up to 3 points. In the event that the grade is lower than five, the examining board, at the request of the interested party, will indicate the defects found, indicating the modifications that must be made in the work or in the new defence of the same.
Finally, it must be taken into account that the Regulations of the Norms of Coexistence of the University of Zaragoza will be applicable to the irregularities committed in the evaluation tests by means of academic fraud, as well as the application of article 30 of the Regulations of the Norms of Evaluation of Learning in relation to irregular practices other than academic fraud.
